Cessnock City Council and Mayor Daniel Watton extend their heartfelt sympathy to the Waverley community and Jewish communities throughout Australia following the tragic events at Bondi Beach yesterday.

As a sign of respect, flags at Cessnock City Council buildings will be lowered in remembrance of the lives lost.

"This appalling act of violence, rooted in terrorism and antisemitism, has left a deep scar," said Clr Watton.

"Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this incredibly difficult time, and all those who responded with courage in the face of such horror."

"We stand with our fellow councils and communities, committed to fostering safety, unity, and peace."
