CFA is taking the opportunity to recognise and appreciate its volunteers for their contributions not only this week, but all year round.

Today, 18 May, is the start of National Volunteer Week 2020.
CFA has over 55,000 operational, non-operational and junior volunteers. Our volunteers help protect 3.3 million Victorians, and more than one million homes and properties across the state.
As one of the world's largest emergency services, we could not achieve our mission to protect lives and property without the contribution of our volunteers.
CFA Chief Officer and CEO Steve Warrington said this year has been like no other and the contributions from our volunteer have been remarkable.
"I want to take this opportunity to say, thank you to each and every one of our volunteers.
"The 2019-20 fire season will go down in history as one of the most extensive bushfire seasons we have faced.
"Our people, whether fighting fires here or on deployment interstate, made a significant and critical difference in some of the most challenging conditions we have experienced for many years.
"During the fire season there were no boundaries between anyone at CFA. Every brigade, district, region and department in CFA contributed, everybody backed each other.
"Thank you to all our people and their families for their incredible contribution during our challenging fire season and indeed every day. I am extremely proud to lead our great organisation. And I hope you are proud to be a part of it."
To celebrate National Volunteer Week we are asking the Victorian community to join us in thanking our wonderful volunteers for the work they do.
National Volunteer Week runs from 18 May - 24 May. This year's theme is 'Changing Communities. Changing Lives.'
