CFA has deployed 16 members to New South Wales as part of a multi-agency response to support the state during the flood disaster.
The assistance comes as New South Wales is experiencing one of its biggest flood events in several decades, with four times the monthly average rainfall seen already, with more than 10,000 requests for assistance to date and over 900 flood rescues.
14 CFA members left on Monday night alongside VICSES members, with resources from Fire Rescue Victoria and Life Saving Victoria also assisting with the multi-agency response.
One CFA member was also deployed over the weekend and one further deployed today.
The team is supported by the State Control Centre, with CFA State Duty Officer Peter Baker saying there may be more requests for assistance as the impact of the situation becomes clearer. Rain is continuing to fall in affected parts of NSW.
"CFA has a proud tradition of deploying interstate and internationally when required, not only during bushfires but across a range of emergency situations, including major storm and flood events," said SDO Baker.
"The situation in New South Wales has been declared a natural disaster, and when we receive a call for assistance, we do what we can to help out."
"I acknowledge the work done by every agency at every level to help coordinate this deployment. CFA is proud to be part of Victoria's emergency services working as one."
Rain is expected to continue across parts of New South Wales across the coming days, with Victoria also preparing for a low risk of flooding this week.
