Change to Development Application Lodgement and Approvals

Muswellbrook Shire Council

The way development applications are lodged, and submissions are made is changing. From 1 July 2021 they will only be accepted online through the NSW Planning Portal.

The following applications are now required to be lodged via the NSW Planning Portal:

  • Development applications

  • Modifications of development application

  • Review of determination of a development application

  • Construction certificate

  • Occupation certificate

  • Subdivision certificate

  • Complying development certificate

  • Principle Certifying Authority (PCA)

Over time it is expected that most other applications for permits and licences issued by Council will also need to be lodged via the NSW Planning Portal.

The Planning Portal at www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au is already in use, so you can jump on to register, login, lodge and track your application online or just to have a have a look.

Applicants must have an email address and be able to provide electronic drawings to upload. Hand drawn plans must be scanned not photographed as photos can create distortions that alter the accuracy of the drawing.

Council staff are available to assist with enquiries regarding the new application process and can provide preliminary quotes for Council fees and charges. If you don't have access to a computer, you can use a computer at your local library or at Council's Administration Centre at Campbells Corner.
