Just after 1pm today (Wednesday 3 June 2020), police were contacted by members of the community in relation to a man appearing to fall asleep at the wheel while driving in the Mortdale area.

Officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command located the BMW on Junction Street, Mortdale, and spoke with the 36-year-old male driver.

The man underwent a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Hurstville Police Station, where he underwent a breath analysis test and returned a reading of 0.351.

The Penshurst man was charged with drive with high-range PCA, and his licence was suspended.

He has been granted bail and is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 28 July 2020.
