Charges after aggravated break, enter and steal in March in Cardiff

Police have charged a fourth man after an aggravated break, enter and steal at a home in Cardiff earlier this year, NSW Police say.

Police from Lake Macquarie Police District launched an investigation following reports a group of people, armed with firearms, entered a home on Penylan Street, Cardiff, on Wednesday 28 March 2018, during which a vehicle was stolen.

Police will allege another vehicle was involved in a pursuit in Edgeworth on Monday 7 May 2018.

On Sunday 6 May 2018, three men, aged 18, 20 and 21, were arrested at a home on Campana Avenue, Edgeworth. Police seized a firearm during a search of the home.

The men were taken to Waratah Police Station where they were each charged with four offences. They appeared at Toronto Local Court on Monday 7 May 2018, where two men, aged 18 and 21, were bail refused to re-appear at the same court on Tuesday 14 August 2018.

The 20-year-old man was also refused bail to re-appear at the same court on Tuesday 31 July 2018.

Following extensive inquiries, about midday yesterday (Tuesday 17 July 2018), a 23-year-old man was arrested at a home on Fletcher Street, Wallsend.

He was taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with:

  • Demand property in company;
  • Intimidation;
  • Assault with intent to rob while armed;
  • Robbery in company;
  • Aggravated enter dwelling with intent;
  • Police pursuit;
  • Resist arrest and;
  • Possess prescribed restricted substance.

He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Wednesday 18 July 2018).

Investigations are continuing.
