Charges Cocaine Alice Springs

A 50-year-old male has been extradited from Brisbane to Alice Springs and charged for allegedly importing cocaine from the United States.

Detectives from the Southern Drug Investigation Unit flew to Brisbane last Thursday to greet the man who is believed to be responsible for at least 120 grams of cocaine being imported into Alice Springs over several months in multiple shipments, Northern Territory Police say.

He has been charged with the following offences:

  • Supply schedule 1 dangerous drug - commercial quantity (two counts)
  • Supply schedule 1 dangerous drug - less than commercial (two counts)
  • Import border controlled drug (marketable quantity) (four counts)
  • Receive property the commission of an offence (Tainted Property) (three counts)

The man was remanded on the extradition order to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.
