Katherine Police have arrested a 31-year-old male following the seizure of a quantity of cannabis.

Police were conducting patrols on the Stuart Highway north of Katherine around 2:45pm yesterday afternoon when they observed a vehicle in poor condition travelling south. A registration check was conducted revealing that the vehicle was unregistered, Northern Territory Police say.

Police apprehended the vehicle and spoke with the male driver. They discovered that his licence was also expired.

The vehicle was subjected to a search and 420 grams of cannabis was allegedly located under the driver’s seat.

The driver was arrested and conveyed to the Katherine Watch House.

He was later charged with;

Unlawfully Supply CannabisPossess Cannabis – Trafficable Quantity – Public PlaceDrive UnlicensedDrive Unregistered Motor VehicleDrive Uninsured Motor Vehicle

He has been bailed to appear in Katherine Local Court on the 24th of May 2018.
