Charges Filed After Tamworth Break-Ins

A boy will face court today following multiple alleged break and enter incidents in the state's northeast.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District were called to a home on Waree Drive, Hillvue, about 6.45am on Wednesday 25 February 2026, with reports a car had been stolen.

Police were told someone had entered the home before stealing an Audi sedan, between 11am Tuesday 24 February 2026 and 4.30am Wednesday 25 February 2026.

Following inquiries, police located the vehicle near Warral Road, West Tamworth, on Tuesday 3 March 2026.

Police will allege a second break and enter incident occurred about 1.20am Wednesday 11 March 2026 at a home on Wongala Street, South Tamworth.

Officers attended the home about 8.30am the same day, and were told a group of young people had allegedly entered the home before a set of car keys were stolen.

Police were told the group had attempted unsuccessfully to start a Mitsubishi utility, before fleeing on foot.

About 9.10am the same day (Wednesday 11 March 2026), police arrested a 12-year-old boy in Tamworth – who allegedly resisted arrest – before he was taken to Tamworth Police Station.

He was charged with:

  • Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence,
  • Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner,
  • Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner,
  • Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, and
  • Breach of bail.

He appeared before a children's court on Wednesday 11 March 2026, where he was granted conditional bail to face a children's court today (Friday 13 March 2026).
