Charges following fatal crash - Seaford

Detectives from Major Collision Investigation Unit have charged a man following a fatal crash in Seaford yesterday, Victoria Police say.

It is alleged police attempted to intercept a car on Overton Road about 1am.

The car failed to stop and was later found crashed into a pole.

A 23-year-old Seaford man was located deceased in the back seat.

The alleged driver, a 28-year-old Carrum Downs man, has been charged culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death and fail to remain at the scene of an accident.

He has been remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates today.

A 24-year-old Frankston woman was released pending further enquiries.

An investigation into the incident has commenced and will be oversighted by Professional Standards Command as per normal procedure.
