Charges following incident on train in Hawthorn

A man has been charged following an incident on a train at Hawthorn Station yesterday afternoon, Victoria Police say.

It is alleged the man was acting erratically and assaulted a 73-year-old woman on the train just before 4pm.

The man then got off the train and allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old boy and a 54-year-old man before he was restrained by witnesses until police arrived.

The 73-year-old woman remains in hospital in a stable condition, the teenager was treated for an arm injury and the 54-year-old man received minor injuries.

The 41-year-old Tullamarine man has been charged with multiple offences including intentionally cause injury, reckless conduct endangering life and committing an offence whilst on bail.

He has been remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
