Charges laid after cash and drugs seized in vehicle stop near Tweed Heads, NSW

Police have charged a man after allegedly seizing drugs and cash during a vehicle stop near Tweed Heads last night, NSW Police say.

About 9.20pm (Wednesday 23 May 2018), officers from Tweed Byron Police District stopped an Audi A4 travelling on Leisure Drive, Banora Point, and spoke to the driver.

It will be alleged in court the driver, a 29-year-old man, was unlicensed.

Police searched the vehicle and seized several items, including cash, drug paraphernalia, prohibited drugs and mobile phones.

He was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with possess prohibited drug (x7), supply prohibited drug (x2), deal in proceeds of crime, driving while unlicensed (x2), possess/attempt to prescribed restricted substance, and fail to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgment.

The man was refused bail to appear at Byron Bay Local Court today (Thursday 24 May 2018).
