Charges laid after emergency services vehicle damaged, NSW

A man has been charged after allegedly damaging an emergency services vehicle yesterday in the Lake Illawarra area, NSW Police say.

NSW Ambulance was called to a unit in Avondale Road, Penrose, where a 34-year-old was due to be transported to hospital about 5.40pm yesterday.

On route to hospital, the ambulance pulled into a service station on the Princes Highway, Albion Park Rail, and requested police assistance.

Police allege the man damaged the inside of the ambulance.

He was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with malicious damage.

The man was released on conditional bail and is due to appear before Albion Park Local Court on Friday 6 October 2017.
