Charges laid after vision posted online, NSW

A man will face court today after allegedly filming people in Surry Hills and uploading the vision online, NSW Police say.

Police from Surry Hills Local Area Command commenced an investigation after two residents in an apartment complex in Commonwealth Street reported that footage of them in their bedroom had been uploaded online on Thursday 23 November 2017.

Officers will allege vision of several women using the bathroom of a neighbouring unit had also been recorded and uploaded online.

About 1pm yesterday (Friday 24 November 2017), police searched a property in Commonwealth Street where several items, including computers, mobile phones and hard drives, were seized.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

He has been charged with three counts of intentionally record intimate image without consent, and three counts of intentionally distribute intimate image without consent.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 25 November 2017).
