Charges laid over drug syndicate, NSW

Three people will face court today following investigations into an alleged Sydney-based drug syndicate, NSW Police say.

Strike Force Glissan was commenced by detectives from Newtown Local Area Command in February this year to investigate the alleged supply of cocaine and MDMA ("Ecstasy") in the metropolitan area.

About 4pm today, investigators assisted by officers from Surry Hills RES, Central Metropolitan Region, Marine Area Command, Miranda, Sutherland, Eastern Suburbs and Eastern Beaches Local Area Commands, executed three search warrants at Sylvania Waters, North Bondi and Chifley.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at an address in Sylvania Waters. Officers located and seized mobile phones, cash and steroids before he was taken to Miranda Police Station and charged with twenty (20) counts of supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug on an on-going basis (x3), knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, goods in custody, direct criminal group and participate criminal group.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at a unit in North Bondi. There, officers allegedly located what is believed to be cocaine, MDMA capsules and cash. The man was taken to Maroubra Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested at a home in Chifley. Officers located what is believed to be cocaine and cash. She was also taken to Maroubra Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug and supply prohibited drug on an on-going basis.

Over 40 grams of cocaine, 55 MDMA capsules and $40,000 cash were seized during the operation with all items secured for forensic analysis.

The 24-year-old man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.

The 22-year-old man and the 20-year-old woman were granted strict conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 12 July 2017.

Investigations by Strike Force Glissan are continuing and further arrests are expected.
