Charges laid over several armed robberies, NSW

A second man has been arrested and charged following investigations into several alleged armed robberies in the Coffs / Clarence area, NSW Police say.

Strike Force Mangabey was established by Coffs Harbour detectives to investigate several armed robberies in the Coffs Harbour area earlier this year.

On Sunday 17 September 2017, detectives attached to Strike Force Mangabey arrested a second person over the alleged attempted armed robbery at the Sawtell Bowling Club on Saturday 22 July 2017.

The 18-year-old Coffs Harbour man was charged in relation to the alleged attempted robbery and was also charged with two further armed robberies that occurred at a Coffs Harbour video store and supermarket on Sunday 9 July and Monday 17 July 2017.

The man was refused bail and appeared before Coffs Harbour Local Court yesterday.

He was remanded to appear before the same court on the Tuesday 10 October 2017.

A 29-year-old man remains before the court in relation to these incidents.

Investigations in relation to Strike force Mangabey are continuing and further arrests are expected.
