Charges over bike lock attack at Ashfield, NSW

Detectives have charged a man over an alleged bike lock attack at Ashfield earlier this week, NSW Police say.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command have been investigating after a man allegedly wrapped a cable bike lock around the neck of a 27-year-old woman outside a unit block on Julia Street about 8.30pm on Wednesday (11 April 2018).

Following extensive inquiries, and a public appeal for assistance, a 24-year-old man was arrested by detectives at Alexandria shortly before 1am today (Saturday 14 April 2018).

The man was taken to Redfern Police Station where he has been charged with:

• Intentionally choke person with recklessness

• Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (personal)

• Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (two counts).

The man, from Alexandria, was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court later today.
