Northern Territory Police have charged a 17-year-old male with multiple offences which he allegedly committed between February and November 2018.
On 17 February the male unlawfully entered and stole property from a business in Winnellie, Northern Territory Police say
Between 17 and 18 February the male unlawfully entered a residence in Leanyer where he stole keys to a vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently involved in a pursuit and later crashed in the Moil area where the offenders fled the scene.
The male unlawfully entered another business in Winnellie sometime between 28 and 30 April. He fled with a small amount of cash.
On 17 May a vehicle was stolen following an unlawful entry at a Nakara residence. The offender and three unidentified co-offenders allegedly drove the vehicle to a business in Fannie Bay where they forced entry and stole a large quantity of tobacco and cash.
A Malak residence was broken into on 6 November. During this incident the male and co-offender entered the residence of an elderly woman, stole her handbag and fled the scene. The offender returned to steal the vehicle and seriously injured the woman by reversing over her. The vehicle further collided with a boat, another vehicle and a fence which resulted in significant damage.
Around 12:20am the following morning the 17-year-old crashed the vehicle in Malak and left the scene.
On Thursday, 20 December, the male presented to Darwin Police Station where he was arrested.
He has been charged with:
- 7x damage to property
- 5x aggravated unlawful entry
- 5x stealing
- 3x aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
- 1 aggravated robbery
- 1x breach of bail
He has been bailed to appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court on 7 January 2019.
