Strike Force Trident's Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan said the vehicle is one of thirteen stolen from the Darwin area in the past week.

"All but one of those vehicles have been recovered. Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in enabling our officers locate and recover these stolen vehicles.

"In a number of these thefts, there have been issues with home security measures. Police are still concerned that people are continuing to leave their doors unlocked and keys in their vehicles.

"This is a timely reminder to ensure you secure your property at all times. Remember, some thieves won't hesitate to enter your house, including during daylight hours or while you're home if your doors are open," he said.

Police are still searching for the 13th vehicle which was stolen from Bees Creek on 20 January. The grey Toyota Hilux with South Australian registration S524BOE was stolen during the afternoon.
