Charlestown Death Probed as Suspicious

Police are currently on scene at a shopping centre carpark in Lake Macquarie after a man was found unresponsive.

About 9.50am today (Wednesday 20 August 2025), emergency services responded to reports that a man had been assaulted in the carpark of a shopping centre along the Pacific Highway, Charlestown.

The man – whose identity is currently unknown - died prior to the arrival of emergency services.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District have established a crime scene.

Police have been informed that another man was seen running south along the Pacific Highway shortly after the incident.
