Tasmanian farmers will be able to invest more into their land and less on insurance, under a re-elected Tasmanian Liberal Government.
TasInsure will offer affordable insurance for our regions, Tasmanian families, small businesses, and community groups and events.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said that many families were being forced to under-insure or not insure at all, with cost-of-living pressures continuing to mount.
"For too long, Tasmanians have been paying sky-high premiums because they are paying mainland prices to cover mainland insurance claims, or worse, they are being told they simply can't be covered," Premier Rockliff said.
"There is no doubt the market has failed Tasmanians, especially for our farmers who work so hard to feed the nation.
"That's why we're stepping in with a Tasmanian solution, one that puts Tasmanians ahead of profits.
"Under TasInsure, whether you are a farmer, a family, a community group, event organiser, or a small business - you will be protected, paying Tasmanian prices.
"It will mean households will save about $250 per year on their insurance, and about 20% for small businesses."
Australian Insurance firms raked in over $6 billion in profits last year alone.
Insurance premiums in Tasmania have risen by more than 35% in just two years, with many farmers being hit hard by this rapid rise.
"TasInsure means our farmers and regional communities will be able to get the essential cover they need, protecting them from future risk.
"It will be cheaper, fairer, ours."
