Cheltenham's New EV Charger Leads Charge

A new pole mounted EVX electric vehicle (EV) charger at Brixton Road, Cheltenham has been added to Council's public charging network.

Installed at no cost to Council, it is on trial for a minimum of 24 months. Two other sites are planned at Sandringham and Hampton East.

Pole mounted chargers are designed for residential areas or business districts where users are more likely to park for 2-4 hours as they operate silently with a slower 22kW charger attached to an existing power pole.

Nearly one in every two vehicles sold in Australia in recent months was either electric or hybrid.

However, with many residents unable to charge at home due to limited off street parking, lack of carports or rental property restrictions, public chargers like these help make EV ownership more accessible.
