Child sexually assaulted in park, man charged in Orange

A man will face court after a child was sexually assaulted in Orange last week, NSW Police say.

Police will allege about 3pm on Friday yesterday, a 5-year-old girl mistakenly attended the male public toilets at a park on Woodward Road.

The girl’s mother went to get the girl who disclosed that a man had allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Officers from Canobolas Local Area Command were notified of the incident and established a crime scene at the location and searched for the man without success.

Following inquiries, about 4pm today, officers arrested a 37-year-old man in Moad Street, Orange.

He was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse – child under 10.

The man was refused bail to appear at Orange Bail Court tomorrow.
