Christmas Eve in court after man evaded police in Noble Park

Police have arrested man who failed to stop when directed by police in Melbourne's southeast in the early hours of 15 December.

Police spotted a Mercedes allegedly travelling at high speed on the East Link Freeway, Dandenong about 3am.

The vehicle exited at Heatherton Road and officers attempted to intercept the vehicle.

The Mercedes didn't stop and ran a red light in attempts to evade police.

Officers patrolled the area and found the Mercedes dumped in Aintree Court, Noble Park North.

The driver was located nearby and subsequently arrested by police.

The 36-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with dangerous driving whilst being pursued by police, disqualified driving and other traffic offences.

The Mercedes was impounded at a cost of $950

Police have made an application to have the vehicle forfeited.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Dandenong Magistrates' court on 24 December.
