Circus Rio- update

Update: The City of Holdfast Bay has been advised by SafeWork SA that they are satisfied that the key non-compliance issues at Circus Rio have been addressed and has lifted four of the nine prohibition notices put in place earlier this week.

Five prohibition notices remain in place but they are non-performance based and will not prevent the circus from opening tonight.

SafeWork SA will continue work with Circus Rio and the City of Holdfast Bay to monitor the outstanding issues.

23/07/2019: We are aware that Circus Rio have been issued with a number of prohibition notices by SafeWork SA.

It is a condition of any event license issued by the City of Holdfast Bay that operators must comply with all SafeWork SA guidelines and as such we have advised the operators of Circus Rio that no performances can take place until these notices have been lifted by SafeWork SA. The City of Holdfast Bay will continue to work in conjunction with Safework SA and Circus Rio in the coming days on these matters.
