City of Canada Bay's top dog

A recent report from the NSW Pet Registry revealed the City of Canada Bay's top dog breeds.

"We love our pets in the City of Canada Bay," Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

Out of over 15,000 registered dogs, Cavoodles took out the top spot followed by Labrador Retrievers, Maltese dogs, Jack Russell Terriers and Toy Poddles.

Cavoodles are known for being intelligent and gentle, making them the perfect companion for all ages. They are also hypoallergenic and shed no hair - no doubt a huge selling point for families.

City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas praised dog owners for doing the right thing and lifetime registering their dogs after microchipping.

"Our pets become members of our families. Ensure it's possible to be reunited with them by registering their details at Council," Mayor Tsirekas said.

Pet registration fees go directly to the Companion Animals Fund which pays for companion animal management by local Councils including pounds and shelters, ranger services, dog recreation areas, and education and awareness programs.

Thinking of adopting a new pet? This year the NSW Government announced free lifetime pet registration for people who adopt a rescue pet to ensure more dogs and cats find a forever home.
