Following the State Government's decision to increase the Solid Waste Levy, Council carefully considered the implications of the resulting $777,000 increase in costs on its proposed 2019/20 budget.
Council adopted its 2019/20 budget on Monday evening based upon absorbing half of the levy increase while adjusting the proposed rate increase of 2.5 per cent – on which Council consulted – to 2.9 per cent to account for the remaining cost imposed.
This decision was made after careful consideration of the information included within a report to Council which considered the impact of the State Government's Solid Waste Levy increase to Council's budget in 2019/20 and in following years.
