Civilian employee charged in Inverell

A civilian employee will face court in February over a high range drink driving offence, NSW Police say.

The offence allegedly occurred shortly after 10pm on Sunday 11 December 2016, following a single vehicle crash. He underwent a roadside breath test where he returned a positive result.

The driver, who was off duty at the time of the incident, was arrested and taken to Inverell Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis and returned a positive reading of 0.2000.

The 36-year-old civilian employee, who is attached to a local area command within the Western Region, was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice. His NSW driver’s licence was suspended as a result of the incident.

He is due to appear before Inverell Local Court on Friday 9 February 2017.
