Backgrounder

The Climate Action Fund supports Canada's climate plan by leveraging Canadian ingenuity and problem-solving skills to help address climate change.

On August 15, 2018, Environment and Climate Change Canada launched the Climate Action Fund to help increase action and raise awareness of climate change.

By the application deadline (September 21, 2018), the program received over 300 applications, for projects amounting to over $65 million. Funding decisions were made in December 2018, and successful applicants were notified in January 2019.

About the Climate Action Fund

The Climate Action Fund will provide up to $3 million in funding to support projects delivered by students, youth, Indigenous Peoples and organizations, small and medium-sized businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and research and educational institutions.

Funded projects will raise awareness of climate change and clean growth and encourage others to take action in support of Canada's climate goals.

Call for proposals for 2019–20

The call for proposals for funding for the 2019–20 fiscal year will take place in the first half of 2019.
