Closure of drug operation in Ipswich, QLD

Nearly 600 charges have been laid against 41 people following a six month long drug operation by Ipswich Detectives, Queensland Police say.

Operation Oscar Assam was closed today by officers from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

Over the course of the operation, police executed 24 search warrants across the Ipswich area, locating large quantities of drugs and other property.

Drugs and property seized included methamphetamines, heroin, steroids, cannabis, weapons, ammunition and cash.

41 people have had 595 charges laid against them.

Of those 41, ten have been charged with trafficking dangerous drugs and multiple counts of supply and produce dangerous drugs.

Many of those charged were remanded in custody after appearing briefly in the Ipswich Magistrates Court.

Others are schedule to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on March 1 and 2.

As well, an alleged puppy farm was located in Tallegalla.

Police and the RSPCA seized 37 dogs including French Bulldogs, British Bulldogs and American Staffordshire Terriers.

Investigations into that matter are continuing.
