Closure of Operation Papa Apricot, South Brisbane District

Detectives from Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch have closed an ongoing operation today after four people have been charged with stealing over a million dollars worth of aviation parts, Queensland Police say.

Operation Papa Apricot began on May 8 after a shipping container was stolen from an address on Fairfield Road at Yeerongpilly.

Inside the container were a large amount of helicopter and aviation parts which are valued at one and a half million dollars.

Investigations conducted over the next four months lead detectives to two properties in Eagleby and Yeronga and as a result, two men were arrested and charged.

A majority of the stolen parts were recovered from the two properties and the shipping container was located at a property at Logan Village.

Police continued to investigate which lead to a woman being arrested and charged yesterday at a property in Edens Landing and a man was arrested at Yeronga.

A 36-year-old Logan Village man has been charged with one count each of receiving tainted property and possession of restricted items.

He initially appeared in the Beaudesert Magistrates Court on October 12 and is due to reappear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on January 24, 2018.

A 31-year-old Yeronga man was charged with one count each of stealing and receiving tainted property.

He is due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court today.

A 31-year-old Eagleby man has been charged with one count each of stealing and receiving tainted property as well as three counts of attempted fraud.

He initially appeared in Holland Park Magistrates Court on October 17 and is due to reappear on January 11.

A 32-year-old Edens Landing woman has been charged with one count each of stealing and receiving tainted property.
