Closure of Operation Papa Marine, Gold Coast

Detectives from the Organised Crime Gangs Group assisted by detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch and other specialist units have today executed search warrants at several addresses in the Gold Coast area, Queensland Police say.

Operation Papa Marine was a protracted investigation commenced in October 2017 in relation to cocaine trafficking by a syndicate of men on the Gold Coast.

The operation, which closed today, involved a number of strategies to target members of the identified syndicate.

During the investigation police seized a large quantity of cocaine and other drugs as well several thousand dollars of Australian currency.

Three people have been charged with numerous drug related offences including trafficking dangerous drugs with a circumstance of aggravation (in relation to being a participant in a criminal organisation), supplying dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs and other offences.

This circumstance of aggravation carries a mandatory seven-year imprisonment in addition to the head sentence, under Queensland’s Serious and Organised Crime legislation.

The Organised Crime Gangs Group will continue to target those persons who commit serious drug related and other offences in association with other participants in criminal organisation’s.
