Closure of Phase 3 of Operation Romeo Amata at Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast District Drug and Serious Crime Task Force has arrested a further six people on multiple charges relating to the trafficking of dangerous drugs following the closure of Phase 3 of Operation Romeo Amata, targeting the distribution of "ice" through South East Queensland.

The operation commenced in November 2018 and the latest closure saw police from the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane districts execute warrants on December 10 and 11.

It will be alleged a commercial enterprise was disrupted where large quantities of methylamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA and pharmaceutical drugs were being distributed across the state.

Over the two-day raid officers seized $30,000 in cash, three concealable firearms, a taser, baton and drugs to the value of $100,000.

Detectives will allege a Geebung pawnbroker was being established to launder money from drug trafficking.

A search warrant executed at the business located a loaded hand gun, commercial quantities of methylamphetamine, GHB (Fantasy), cocaine and MDMA in the rear of the shop.

A cocaine press along with industrial sized scales and numerous cash counting machines were also uncovered.

Members from outlaw motorcycle gangs and their associates were amongst those charged.
