The Finocchiaro CLP Government is boosting funding for the Northern Territory Suicide Prevention Community Grants Program, which is open for applications.

Minister for Health Steve Edgington said NT Health and the Northern Territory Primary Health Network have boosted the Suicide Prevention Community Grants funding by an additional $50,000 with $20,000 from NT Health, as part of our commitment to reducing suicide rates.

"Too many lives are being lost to suicide, and the cost to our community is immeasurable. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a future cut short.

" We know that suicide has a devastating impact, and I am pleased to announce on Do it For Dolly Day that the CLP Government has boosted the funding for these grants," Mr Edgington said.

These Suicide Prevention Community Grants aim to reduce suicide rates in the NT, which are the highest in the country. In 2024, 52 Territorians died by suicide in the NT, which is a rate of 19.8 for every 100,000 people.

Community members and non-government organisations can apply for grants between $500 to $10,000 to support community-led projects that raise awareness and contribute to suicide prevention across the NT.

The Suicide Prevention Community Grants are available for eligible activities that align with the Northern Territory Suicide Prevention Strategic Implementation Plan 2023-2028: Keeping Everyone Safe.
