Cocaine, cannabis, cash and cars have been seized and four people have been arrested following a Northern Beaches Local Area Command investigation into the supply of illicit drugs, NSW Police say.
Strike Force Dufek began in March this year to investigate the ongoing supply of cocaine on the Northern Beaches and identify those responsible.
About 12.40pm on Monday yesterday, police searched a Honda Jazz hatchback parked in Queenscliff Road, Queenscliff, after arresting a 35-year-old man.
Police will allege they located more than 50g of cocaine during a search of the man, with a further 2.5kg found concealed within a hidden compartment in the car.
The Ryde man was taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with large commercial drug supply the ongoing supply of cocaine and refused bail to appear at Manly Local Court today.
A Hyundai i30 was also seized with a large amount of cash later found inside a hidden compartment.
Since yesterday’s arrest, Northern Beaches police have been joined by the North West Metropolitan Region Operational Support Group, Gordon Region Enforcement Squad and the Police Dog Unit to execute search warrants in Warriewood, Brookvale, Freshwater, Narrabeen, Ryde and Five Dock.
At Ocean Street, Narrabeen, police seized 275g of cocaine and almost half a kilogram of cannabis. A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with the commercial supply of cocaine, supply an indictable quantity of cannabis and possess prohibited drug. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday 18 October 2017.
At Johnston Street, Freshwater, police seized a quantity of cash which they will allege is the proceeds of crime.
At Prosperity Drive, Warriewood, a 31-year-old man was arrested after police seized about 23g of cocaine and an amount of cannabis. He will be issued with a court attendance notice for possess prohibited drug.
Detectives also travelled to Port Macquarie where they arrested a former Northern Beaches man, aged 43, who was charged with the commercial supply of a prohibited drug, supplying an indictable quantity of prohibited drug (x 8) and supply a prohibited drug on an ongoing basis.
He has been refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court tomorrow.
Small amounts of drugs, mobile phones and other items allegedly linked to drug supply were seized at some of the other addresses.
Northern Beaches Crime Manager, Detective Chief Inspector Craig Wonders, said Strike Force Dufek was part of command’s ongoing commitment to disrupting and dismantling local drug supply.
"This strike force has dismantled a local syndicate which we will allege has been supplying cocaine throughout the Northern Beaches and we believe it will significantly impact on the supply of this illicit drug in the local area," Det Ch Insp Wonders said.
"The supply of prohibited drugs is unacceptable and we will tirelessly pursue any person or group engaged in the supply and distribution of dangerous and illegal drugs.
"I would also like to appeal to any person with information about the supply of prohibited drugs to contact us, either at the police station or confidentially via Crime Stoppers.
