Cocaine trafficking charges, Gold Coast

The State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Gangs Group charged two men yesterday with trafficking a dangerous drug (cocaine) and other offences, Queensland Police say.

Operation Oscar Pompeii was commenced to investigate two associates, both with alleged links to the Comanchero’s OMCG.

As part of the operation, police executed a number of search warrants on the Gold Coast yesterday. During the raids, officers arrested a 24-year-old and a 29-year-old man, both of the Gold Coast. They were charged with a total of 12 offences including trafficking a dangerous drug.

It is alleged both were participants in a criminal organisation which adds a circumstance of aggravation to the trafficking charges. Charges also include one count each of recruiting others to become participants in a criminal organisation.

The men were held in custody overnight and are to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.

"These arrests were part of the ongoing and relentless pursuit of criminal gangs, their associates and their criminal activity," Detective Superintendent Roger Lowe of the Organised Crime Gangs Group said.
