Coffs Harbour Film Studio Major Step Closer

NSW Nationals

One of the Coffs Coast's most significant projects is a major step closer following successful negotiations with the NSW Government.

Nationals Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said the brand new film studio will continue to proceed as planned at Pacific Bay Resort now the Minns Labor Government has committed $5.5m to build a noise wall.

Mr Singh said the wall, to be built on the highway offramp adjacent to the studio location, is required to replace the existing natural buffer which is being removed as part of the Coffs Harbour Bypass.

"The film studio project was in danger of being put on hold indefinitely if a breakthrough on the noise wall was not achieved," Mr Singh said.

"I've been working closely with the project proponents to help secure a NSW Government commitment to build the noise wall.

"It is extremely satisfying that four years of advocacy on behalf of the Coffs Harbour community has paid off.

"The Pacific Bay Resort Studios and Village will be a gamechanger for our city - it has the potential to elevate Coffs Harbour to the world stage and further strengthen our economic and cultural future.

"The exciting opportunities for jobs creation this precinct will create are extremely welcome, not to mention the creation of an entirely new regional industry which will result.

"We hope that planning approval will be granted quickly once the required documents are lodged."
