Colac hotel redevelopment gets underway in Port Adelaide

This afternoon, another major Port Adelaide development got underway as Mayor Claire Boan joined PAFC legend Russell Ebert and Darcy Byrne Jones to turn the sod on the site of the new Colac Hotel. Locally-based developers Dominion Homes will be redeveloping the hotel and constructing 14 new apartments on St Vincent Street, in the heart of the Port, and expect to generate up to 100 jobs during construction.

The Colac Hotel is believed to be first opened in early 1885 and was a favourite for many a wharfie and Port Adelaide Local until its closure in 2011. Whilst the revitalised Colac will be a modern more contemporary style of a family hotel, the charm of the historic old building will remain.
