Coles donates $10,000 to Big Gay Day 2018 charities

Coles will donate $10,000 to this year’s Big Gay Day charity partners to help them deliver vital programs and services to the LGBTQI community.

Big Gay Day, to be held at The Wickham Hotel in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley on Sunday 11 March 2018, has for the past 18 years brought Queensland’s LBGTQI community and their friends together for a day of fun and music.

Over that time, Big Gay Day has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for LBGTQI charities, and this year will support Queensland AIDS Council, Open Doors Youth Service Inc., Brisbane Pride Festival and Australian Transgender Support Association Qld.

Each of the four charity partners will receive an equal share of Coles’ $10,000 donation in addition to funds raised on the day.

David Brewster, a Coles Director and member of the company’s Diversity Council, said Coles was pleased to be able to support the important work each of the charity partners were doing for the LGBTQI community.

"Big Gay Day is a fantastic celebration of diversity and inclusivity in the community, and it's a great way to support these charities while having a lot of fun," Mr Brewster said.

Big Gay Day is The Wickham’s annual flagship event, attracting thousands of partygoers each year in support of the LGBTQI community and their friends.

This year’s event will feature headliners Sneaky Sound System alongside a massive talent pool of DJs, singers and performers including Samantha Jade, Paulini, Alfie Acuri, Kennedy Davenport, Dan Slater (NYC), Corey Craig (USA), Being Jane Lane, Jess Whoo, Brisbane Hustlers, Jamez Brown and more.
