CommBank continues support for flood affected communities by distributing $2m in Flood Relief funding

A total of 121 community groups and organisations across New South Wales and 76 across Queensland have received up to $10,000 in individual donations as part of CommBank's Flood Relief Funding. The much-needed funding, which collectively amounts to $1,837,394 will help communities in their recovery and resilience following the catastrophic floods this year.

Kylie Smith, CBA Executive General Manager of Corporate Affairs, says the bank remains focused on directing $2 million of vital funding to community organisations to help with their recovery efforts.

"We know the community is still feeling the effects of the floods and we are still here to help. Our thoughts remain with everyone impacted by the heartbreaking scenes the nation witnessed not so long ago.

"In addition to supporting 1.5 million CommBank customers directly impacted by the floods, we also understand the important role local organisations play as communities recover. That's why we launched the CommBank Flood Relief Fund and are providing $2 million to support customers and local community organisations as they rebuild.

"Flood-impacted community organisations have been able to access up to $10,000 in CommBank grant funding to assist them with clean-up, rebuild and recovery and we have been focused on getting this money to them as quickly as possible," said Ms Smith.

The Indigenous Futures Foundation is one of the 121 community groups in NSW that have received a donation from CommBank. Operating out of Tweed Heads South in NSW, the non-profit provides communities in the Northern NSW region and surrounding areas with access to free and nutritious meals. Additional organisations in NSW that will benefit from CBA's Flood Relief Funding include Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital, Men's Mental Health Australia Incorporated, and ReForest Now.

In Queensland, the Kia Ora & Districts Pony Club is one of the 76 community groups to receive a donation from CommBank. Operating out of the small township of Kia Ora, east of Gympie, the non-profit provides horse riding classes to the local community. Additional organisations in Queensland that will benefit from CBA's Flood Relief Funding include Fishers of Men, Drought Angels, and We Care 2.
