A parliamentary committee will discuss Australia’s aid program in Melbourne on Friday.
The Foreign Affairs and Aid Sub-Committee of the Parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade is examining the strategic effectiveness and outcomes of Australia’s aid program in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly the role of the private sector, local procurement, trade development, innovation, and improving outcomes for women and girls. The Sub-Committee will meet with representatives from a range of organisations at a public hearing on Friday 10 August in Melbourne.
Chair of the Sub‑Committee, Mr Chris Crewther MP, said the Sub-Committee welcomed the opportunity to discuss Australia’s aid program with NGOs, advocates, business groups and academics.
"The Sub‑Committee looks forward to exploring how Australian aid is supporting countries in our region, and examining ways to ensure that our aid dollars are helping our aid partners build strong, prosperous and sustainable local economies," Mr Crewther said.
