Concerns for man possibly missing in river near Mildura

Police hold concerns for a man last seen near Mildura yesterday, and are appealing for public assistance.

A man was seen on the George Chaffey Bridge at Buronga, near Mildura, between 9.30pm and 9.50pm (Saturday 8 June 2019).

The unidentified man jumped from the bridge into the river below and due to darkness, it is not known if he swam to shore or got into difficulty.

Officers from Barrier Police District attended, and with the assistance of Victoria Police Service, are conducting a search of the area; however, the man has not been located.

The man is described as being Caucasian appearance with a pale complexion, aged in his late teens or early 20s, about 160cm to 170cm tall, and of a thin build.

He was last seen wearing a black puffer jacket, dark coloured tracksuit pants, and a black baseball cap with a red 'Hurley' symbol.

So far, no missing person reports have been received and police hold concerns for the man's safety.

The man is urged to come forward or alternatively, anyone with information is urged to contact police.
