Congratulations to July's Kookaburra Volunteer of the Month

Cricket Victoria is proud to announce Dennington Cricket Club's Ben Rantall as the Kookaburra Volunteer of the Month for July, recognising his outstanding commitment, leadership, and innovation both on and off the field.

A true club all-rounder, Ben serves as Division 1 captain and head coach for all senior teams. He leads with passion and purpose, playing a pivotal role in mentoring emerging juniors and fostering a strong, inclusive club culture. Whether it's running extra training sessions or offering one-on-one support, Ben is deeply invested in the development of every player.

Ben's influence extends far beyond game day. He has been instrumental in modernising Dennington CC, launching a new club website, building an engaging social media presence, and introducing the 'Players Register' newsletter – an initiative that connects current, past, and future players and strengthens ties across the wider community.

One of Ben's most impactful innovations has been the introduction of FrogBox live streaming, which now broadcasts up to two games per week. Not only does this allow family and friends to tune in from anywhere, it also serves as a valuable development tool for players seeking to improve their game.

Ben also revitalised the club's social culture with the return of Thursday night meals, which he organises weekly. These gatherings have boosted club morale and finances, while also providing another space for connection and community. He manages merchandise and assists with sponsorships with a level of professionalism that continues to raise the club's profile and ensure its sustainability.

Like many volunteers across all corners of the state, Ben does it all while working full-time, completing a university degree, and raising a young family – having recently welcomed his second child. His dedication, generosity, and work ethic have made an immeasurable impact on the Dennington Cricket Club.

As part of this recognition, Ben will receive a $200 Kookaburra Voucher for Dennington Cricket Club.

Congratulations, Ben and thank you for everything you do for grassroots cricket!
