Connecting Mount Alexander Locals To Vital Services

Mount Alexander locals will have better access to health, recreational and educational services thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Public Transport Melissa Horne today joined Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards in Castlemaine to announce $123,000 for a new community transport pilot program.

The pilot program will provide a new accessible 11-seat bus and the ability to train volunteers to help locals access vital services that they might not be able to currently.

The program will see Maldon Neighbourhood Centre, Castlemaine Community House, Castlemaine Health and Castlemaine Fitness Centre partner with Mount Alexander Shire, who has provided $32,000 towards the project, deliver a tailored and integrated transport service to facilities and vital services.

The funding is part of the Flexible Local Transport Solutions Program, which provides funding for local transport initiatives, services and infrastructure in regional Victoria.
