The festive spirit is alive and well on the Sunshine Coast, with a fantastic line-up of events bringing residents and visitors together in Coolum and Mudjimba this December.
Council's Strong Community Portfolio Councillor Taylor Bunnag said there was plenty to enjoy - from twilight markets to carols by the beach.
"The Sunshine Coast is all about connection with each other and our beautiful place, and local events celebrate our strong sense of community spirit," Cr Bunnag said.
"Each event is within walking distance of cafés and shops, so make a day or night of it and support our businesses while you're there."
Friday nights - Coolum Lions Twilight Markets
Every Friday night in December (12, 19, 26) Tickle Park will come alive with the Coolum Lions Twilight Markets. Pick up a famous Lions Christmas cake and browse for unique gifts for friends and family while soaking up the summer vibes.
13 December - Salty Saturdays Market and Carols
Jack Morgan Park will host Salty Saturdays Christmas Party by the seaside event, supporting Genetic Cures for Kids - Our Moon's Mission.
Coolum Business & Tourism President Paul Miley said Salty Saturdays would be a fantastic way to celebrate the festive season in Coolum.
This special Christmas edition, supported by Council, would bring the community together for an afternoon of live music including carols, great food, and plenty of holiday cheer," Mr Miley said.
"The perfect way to celebrate Christmas by the sea, it's all about bringing locals and visitors together to enjoy great music, delicious food, and a relaxed coastal vibe - all while supporting a fantastic cause.
"We can't wait to see Jack Morgan Park alive with festive spirit this Saturday!"
13-15 December - Surfing Queensland's Cooee Grommet Pro 2025
Catch the next generation of surfing stars at the Cooee Grommet Pro, set to hit Coolum or Yaroomba (location subject to conditions). This event promises plenty of action on the waves.
20 December - Mudjimba Community Carols
Presented by Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club, this beloved tradition brings families together for a magical evening of carols under the stars.
25 December - Coolum HeARTs Community Lunch
Celebrate Christmas together with food and friendship at the Coolum Civic Centre.
27 December - Coolum Flicks in the Park - Saturday 27 December
Grab a picnic and head to Tickle Park for an outdoor movie night thanks to Coolum Business and Tourism Association. Don't forget to support the local cafés along the esplanade for dinner or dessert.
31 December - New Year's Eve Fireworks
Ring in 2026 with a spectacular fireworks display, 8.30pm at Coolum Beach, proudly presented by Sunshine Coast Council. Thanks to Coolum Lions, Coolum Beach Surf Club and the Coolum Business & Tourism Association, Tickle Park will have live music from 5pm. Families can grab a bite to eat from food trucks or nearby cafés.
Sunshine Coast Division 9 Councillor Maria Suarez encouraged everyone to get involved.
"December is the perfect time to come together, support local businesses and community groups and enjoy everything our coastal towns have to offer," Cr Suarez said.
"Whether it's markets, music or movies, there's something for everyone.
"In a part of the region that loves to celebrate people and place, these community events play a great role in connecting locals and visitors.
