Public Order Response Team officers with the assistance of Air Wing nabbed a speeding drink driver in Mount Waverley overnight.
Air Wing observed a vehicle travelling at an alleged speed of 160km/h in an 80km zone on the Monash Freeway near Blackburn Road just before midnight.
PORT officers were nearby and intercepted a Ford Falcon utility on Mawarra Crescent where the driver returned a positive preliminary breath test.
The ute was immediately impounded, and the male driver was taken to a police station where he returned a BAC of 1.11.
A 47-year-old Ashburton man is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving, conduct endangering life and speed related offences.
