Correctional officer charged over inappropriate relationship with inmate 25 May

A Corrective Services NSW officer has been charged over an alleged inappropriate relationship with an inmate at a correctional facility in Sydney's west.

Last week, detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit commenced an investigation following a referral from a correctional facility in Sydney's west, over an alleged inappropriate relationship between a female correctional officer and male inmate.

Following inquiries, officers arrested a 25-year-old woman at a home at Ingleburn about 8am today (Monday 25 May 2020).

The woman was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with holder of public office misconduct and engage in relationship with inmate cause safety risk.

She was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 14 July 2020.

The woman's employment has been suspended.
