Corrective services officer charged over fraudulent document submissions

A Corrective Services NSW officer will appear in court today charged with fraud offences.

In December 2019, detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit commenced an investigation following reports a female corrections officer was submitting fraudulent documentation to support sick leave applications.

Following extensive investigations, detectives served a 53-year-old woman with a Future Court Attendance Notice for two counts of use false document to obtain financial advantage on Monday 9 December 2019.

Police will allege in court that the woman submitted fraudulent doctors' certificates as supporting documents for sick leave applications while working at a correctional facility at Silverwater.

The woman is due to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Thursday 23 January 2020).
