Correctives officer charged over alleged relationship with inmate at Wellington

A Correctives Services officer has been charged over an alleged relationship with an inmate at a prison in the state's Central West.

Officers attached to the State Crime Command's Corrective Services Investigation Unit (CSIU) formed Strike Force Balanada to investigate allegations the officer was involved in a relationship with a 28-year-old male inmate at the Wellington facility.

Following inquiries, a 24-year-old woman attended Wellington Police Station about 5.30pm yesterday (Friday 29 March 2019), and was charged with engage in relationship with inmate etc cause safety etc risk.

She has been given conditional bail and is due to appear at Wellington Local Court on Tuesday 21 May 2019.
