Mildura Rural City Council has appointed Martin Hawson to the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Hawson, currently Council's General Manager Community, will take up the position on Friday 6 August.
He will take over from interim CEO Phil Shanahan who has been in the position temporarily since May.
Council will restart the process to recruit and appoint a permanent CEO later this year.
Mildura Mayor Cr Jason Modica said Martin is a highly experienced General Manager who will hit the ground running.
"Martin brings over 20 years of local government experience," Cr Modica said.
"His existing relationships and insight to key Council priorities and projects will make for a smooth transition."
Cr Modica acknowledged the contributions of interim CEO Phil Shanahan and said Councillors were looking forward to continuing to work with Martin in the coming months.
"We are confident Martin will support both Councillors and staff as we work to deliver important services, programs and infrastructure for the community," Cr Modica said.
